Uduppi Indraprastha , RR road, 2km from Railway station and bus station. cost- 200- 800
Carry Mosquito repellent .
Where to eat

If you are a pure vegetarian and like to taste Andhra village style food ,then Hotel Subbaiyya( (Three light Junction) is place you must visit. Next best place is Hotel Jaya .For only snacks and tea hotel Uduppi (opposite Anandh Theater) though self service ,is a neat place to eat.

If you love typical Andhra non -veg and Indianised Chinese food, hotel Haveli Dhakshin (Opp town hall, Main Road) is a decent place to eat. For Hydarabadi Bum biriyani ,Yeti (Banugudi Jn, for parcels)and Yeti on main road (near ICICI bank)though a little noisy one are better. If you love Mutton Dum biriyani -Cosmo(club) parcel out let is the best.(the hotel may not look Hygienic.)If you love typical spicy Andhra non- veg hotel Asoka,( near masjid-)though very noisy and a little unhygienic is the one. For pastries ,ice creams and bread Yati soft (Banugudi Jn) and Bakers inn( near Anandh Theater) are the best.

Remember to drink only mineral water (available even in the smallest pan-shop) if you care your health.

You can try Kakinada "KAJA"-a typical Andhra sweet- from one of the Kottyya Sweet stalls (a century old tradition)

For continental food the three star hotels mentioned earlier is better.

You will find no difficulty in locating a Wine Shop ( You may even drink standing there in country style but may not buy for MRP ) Sixer is a good bar.

Places of Interest

The City is a pensioners' paradise and is very peaceful .If you appear like a stranger you may encounter a few beggers(professional!).There are three main parallel streets. The middle one is the main Road and main shopping mals are here. The Cinema Road has many Cinemas’ located. The Temple street has many temples. If you prefer to drive by your own be careful regarding your blind spot.

About 10 km away there is a beach called Uppada. Though the sand is black ,if you love solitude it is a good place. A near by island about 5-6 km called the Hope island is not yet developed as a tourist place. The Deep water port it is not open to visitors. There is also a light house where visitors are not allowed now;but you can watch the anchored ships and floating yachts and fishing boats. The harbor is busy and may remind you the presence of a skunk!! There are no good restaurants yet in the beach.Mangrove gardens and the eateries (15 Km towards Talla revu ) is an adventurous spot. .A boat ride for 5 members for a day would cost about 4500 INR.

"Lalithakalathoranam" is a decent park. There are jogging lane, a water body which supplies drinking water for the town. A boat ride is arranged in this water for some 20 INR ,if you can forget it would pollute both the drinking water and the park you would have a pleasant ride!!There is also a skating ring and a library.( better to call a reading room ;apart from news papers and a very few magazines nothing worth reading is found; the rest is jeeyer swamijis books)

The Gandhi park (MK Gandhi visited during freedom struggle) today is in a dilapidated stage. You can see many retired people sitting and chatting in the evenings. The Gandhi mini museum is worth watching. The antic reading room with scant news papers and the unhygienic toilets may disappoint you, but the huge statue of meditating Gandhi would sooth your mind. There is a small zoo with a few rabbits and pigeons occasionally reminding you what cruelty to animal means. The Boat club  has no boats at present .
The Janma Bhoomi park (a collective work of people) is in an example of what would happen if w e don’t care about maintenance.
If you love visiting Hindu temples you have many of them in and arround.Notably Sri Bhimeswara Manikyamba Temple ,Draksharamam ,known as southern Kasi ( 35 Km ) and Chalukya Kumara Rama Bhemeswaralayam ,Samalkot(12 KM) part of Pancharamam,(5 holy shrines)both constructed during the Eastern Chalukya king Chaluka Bhimudu (890-918 A.D)Adhamula Ramalayam( temple with a Glass Chaimber) G mamidada(19 KM) are wonderful temples. Balatripura Sundari (pindala Cheruvu 2 km), Vasavi kanyaka parameswari, Sree Peedham,Gokulam (Karnagaru JN)Sivalayam Ramarao peta, (3 km)Ayyapa temple at Banugudi(1km).There are many other temples in Temple street. The Duch building,Brhmasamajam, and RCM St Ann's (1839 by French missionaries) , CSI St.Thomas Church ( 1780AD),at Jaganadhapuram  are worth visiting. There are many more churches .

Kakinada is a centere of education.Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (NACC A Grade), Rangaraya Medical College ,GOVT. ITI,Girls polythenic ,P.R.Educational institute, Andhra Polythenic,Aditya,Chaitanya Pragathi,VS Lakasmi, . The CIFE (Part of Fisheries university )and Ideal are some of the noted higher learning institutes.
Sri Chaitanya and Narayana are good for Intermediate education.

For School Education,St.Josephs, Mount Carmel School, Subha Niketan, Akshara, Asram are some of the best.(there are more than120 schools to choose)

Agri- products and Fish products are exported. You get some the best mangoes here. There are may mines near by  Kakinada (60KM) Elewarm, Gokavaram, laratite, metal , Granatite, and iron ore are mined.

RIL(,Can produce 5,50,000 barrels of oil  a day!! The KG-D6 Block is located in the Bay of Bengal 50 km off the Kakinada coast, at a depth of 8000 ft,7 trillion cubic feet of natural Gas!!; unfortunately is in dispute with RNRLon prising of natural gas )Reliance Gas Transportation Infrastructure Ltd )RGTIL,L&;T (Larsen &; Tubro),Spectrum,GMR Energy ,Baker Hugges,Schlumberger,The Software Technology Parks of India ,
Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemical Limited ,Corromendal ,Murugappa Group-owned EID Parry (India) Ltd and Cargill International (to set up yet), many Rice mills (Godavari river basin is the rice bowl) Ruchi , Alcamer,Nikhil refineries,Natural Bio,SRMT and many others at the Special Economic Zone would change the face of Kakinada ,both economically and ecologically ,in the near future. Remember that these are the subjective out look of a wayfarer!!Happy Journey!
